Philadelphia-based Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions and Dallas’ Wynne/Jackson are developing the $38 million expansion of their Northside residential and retail project at the University of Texas at Dallas.
New York-based Star America is the equity partner in the development.
The project, which just broke ground, will add space for 370 students.
The development will be served by DART’s new Cotton Belt Line, which runs between DFW International Airport and Plano.
“The first two phases of the Northside project have successfully transformed the student experience at UTD, offering dynamic living spaces and convenient access to shops, food and entertainment,” Bob Shepko, division president of Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions, said in a statement. “We are very pleased to expand of this success and partner once again with Wynne/Jackson and Star America in support of UTD’s continued growth.”
The 5-acre development is scheduled to start opening next July.
Balfour Beatty Communities will lease and manage the student housing project.
Architecture Demarest designed the project, and Andres Construction is the general contractor.
Wynne/Jackson and Balfour Beatty started the first phase of their Northside project at UTD in 2015 with spaces for 600 students and retail space. The second phase in 2017 added housing for 275 additional students at the project on Floyd Road.
Balfour Beatty Campus Solutions is part of Balfour Beatty PLC, a U.K.-based international firm.
